Over the past year we have seen an increase in customers opting for this particular level of service, it gives complete control over your in-production IT hardware whilst keeping the cost down.

How it works is simple, we ship to site in advance enough parts or hot swap systems to cover your in-production hardware, if a failure occurs you replace with the parts or hot swap system on-site, return the failed items or system and we replace to top up the contract.

Below is an example of a live scenario:

UK Customer has 5x Sun Fire V210 Server (fully configured), 5x Sun Fire V890 Server (fully configured) and 12x Sun Blade 2500 (Silver) Workstation (fully configured) on contract with us.

GCB Ltd shipped in advance to site 1x Sun Fire V210 Server (identically configured), 1x Sun Fire V890 Server (identically configured) and 2x Sun Blade 2500 (silver) Workstation (identically configured)

If a failure occurs and depending on the failure type the customer can choose either to use a part from the system or use the identically configured system (as a hot-swap) and return the faulty part/system back to us.

Although this level of service works with all ages of product, it is particularly useful for legacy items especially those hard to find parts which are becoming harder and harder to source even for many of the third party maintenance companies and manufacturers. Recently the likes of Oracle and HP have ditched a large number of products from their support lists down to this fact.

A few of our existing customers treat this level of service as an insurance policy for their legacy items, the value of legacy products increase on a monthly basis sometimes as much as 1000% and with IT budgets at an all time low, re-designing your IT infrastructure could be disastrous. If you want/need to prolong the lifespan of your legacy Unix hardware then this service level is a smart choice.
